Health and safety matters

The health and safety of all is our number one priority at UCC. Health and safety is not approached as an additional extra; it is integral to our own operations and procedures.

  • We provide method statements to ensure that the potential hazards and risks are documented. The corresponding risk assessment is then carried out to decide on the precautions required, record any other health and safety issues and set out the future plan for assessment.
  • We carry out regular general inspections on the work we undertake.
  • We report and log all accidents and incidents in accordance with the Health and Safety Executive standards and RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995).
  • We hold regular health and safety meetings internally and with clients.
  • We provide ‘tool box talks’ to clients where required, which are short presentations to employees on specific aspects of health and safety.
  • All UCC staff, without exception, are trained to exacting standards for every job undertaken, not only in general health and safety but the industry requirements specific to the work they undertake, i.e. IPAF, PASMA, CSCS cards. Staff training is given a high priority within our business; staff skills are maintained, refreshed and continuously improved, keeping up to date with industry developments.
